Build a workbench for a lifetime
with Tim Celeski
<images coming soon>

The WorkbenchDesign workbench is a carefully blended design that features a great blend of several great historic and modern workbenches:
  • The split top like the Charlesworth’s and Bob Lang’s workbenches that gives you great flexibility in clamping your work to the bench.
  • The incredible holding capability of the Nicholson bench.
  • The unbeatable everyday logic of the Holtzapffel bench.
To this we’ve added some new ideas that make the bench even more useful in a modern hand and machine tool home workshop.

The bench you’ll build will feature a 2 1/2” hardwood top, be a little over 2’ wide and in your choice of 72” or 84” lengths to fit your home shop. As we build a strong base in the class we’ll size it so that bench will fit you and the way you work.

To hold your work the bench features two vises including a 24” wide twin-screw Veritas vise and a quick-release end vise.

As a bonus we’ll also give you plans you can take home to build a small cabinet that can fit below your new bench and other useful add-on accessories to make it even more useful for hand and power tool woodworking.

Building the bench uses basic skills of hand and machine woodworking. The class will place special emphasis on strong mortise and tenon joinery. The stout base of the bench is designed to be knocked down to make it easy to transport to your home shop.

The result of our week’s work will be a bench you’ll be able to use for the rest of your life that hold any workpiece in just about any position.
