Evening Classes Fall 2009
For the Beginning Woodworker


These classes are intended for beginning woodworkers. More experienced woodworkers who want to brush up their skills are welcome too. We supply all tools and materials.

We're trying out a three consecutive night evening class format. We believe that 3 consecutive nights will allow you fully absorb the classes and then practice the following weekend.

These three 3-hour classes will give you the equivalent of a day long class at the school.

Cost:                  $120. Costs includes materials.
Class size:         8 students
Classes times:   Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 6:00 - 9:00pm

Introduction to Routers September 29th - October 1st      Register

The router can be at the core of a small homeshop. Learn the basics of a router's capabilities and safe usage of  a router.  Bring own your router - if you have one - to the first session.
Evening 1 - Introduction to the Router and Router Bits
Evening 2 - Practical Routing session
Evening 3 - Making and using basic Router Jigs
This class require safety gear. Please bring a dust mask, hearing protection and goggles.

 


Dovetails by Hand October 6th - 8th      Register

Learn the basics of handcutting dovetails. You'll use our professional quality tools.
Evening 1 - Introduction to markup, sawing, and paring with a chisel
Evening 2 - Cutting your first dovetails
Evening 3 - Improving your skills
 

Introduction to Handplanes October 13th - 15th     Register

With Tim Lawson
A cut down version of our "Plane and Simple Class". Feel free to bring along an old plane - we may be able to show you how to rescue it.
Evening 1 - What is a plane & sharpening the blade
Evening 2 - Fettling (tuning) a handplane
Evening 3 - Using a handplane to flatten and smooth a board



Quick Joinery October 27th - 29th    Register

Learn the basics of Power Handtool joinery using modern machinery - tailored specifically for the small home shop.
Evening 1 - Introduction to the basic tools and techniques
Evening 2 - Combining Pocket Hole Joinery and Biscuit Joinery
Evening 3 - Mortice and Tenon Joinery with a Router and the Festool Domino
This class require safety gear. Please bring a dust mask, hearing protection and goggles.
