Dan Packard


Dan Packard trained as a sculptor and has taught sculpture and carving for nearly 40 years. Has degrees in sculpture and design from the Rhode Island School of Design and Syracuse University. He currently holds the rank of Professor Emeritus from the University of South Dakota.

He has exhibited sculpture nationally, created work for private and public collections and done commissioned work for churches as well as commercial buildings. His work is in a private and museum collections. His most recent public work was for the History Channel's Viking television series.

Now "retired" Dan creates a wide variety of architectural carvings as well as exploring a number of other creative endeavors in his studio in Port Townsend. He has made of study of classic European styles including Celtic. In addition, he has maintained a continuing interest in carvings of the Far East.

Dan, with a deep love of boats and boat building, taught at  NW School of Wooden Boat Building in Port Hadlock.
