New work and new designs by Darrell Peart
Introduction
Recently (July 2010) Darrell Peart was nominated one of the Top Eight Furniture Designers in the world!
Darrell's Greene and Greene Details classes fill fast and there is always a lot of discussion of design in the class. Design is also one of Darrell's favorite topics.
Class Description
This one-day master class introduces you to furniture design from the perspective of Darrell Peart. Darrell's style is heavily influenced by, among others, Greene & Greene. The class will cover a basic discussion of the rules of balance and proportion.
Several pieces of classic furniture will be analyzed to understand how a good design works. It is Darrell’s belief however, that the rules of design, while helpful in the beginning, will eventually inhibit the creative process.
Strategies will be given to help students develop their own intuition and encourage their inspiration.

Prerequisites
As a prerequisite, students are requested to purchase William H Varnum’s (1916) book “Arts & Crafts Design” and read chapters 1-5 prior to class.
