Matt Bickford
Mouldings in Practice

Matt Bickford

Background

Matthew S. Bickford began working wood as a hobbyist interested in period work. He soon became intrigued with moulding planes, specifically hollows and rounds, as a means to being able to copy or create specific profiles. After spending a moderate amount of time with antique planes he started making his own, which ultimately lead to his career as a planemaker.

Matt is the author of Mouldings in Practice, published by Lost Art Press. Matt is working with Lie-Nielsen Toolworks to make a DVD with the same title and subject which is due to be released in November of 2012.

Matt has also written for Popular Woodworking.

We're planning to get Matt back in 2015 to teach both the construction and use of moulding planes. Please let us know if you're interested in Matt's classes in 2015.
