Getting your Article published on the School's Blog

Introduction

We are keen for the Port Townsend School of Woodworking's website and blog to be a valuable resource for woodworkers in the Pacific Northwest. We will publish articles that tell our students about events, other classes and woodworking resources. We're especially keen on identifying local sources of lumber.

We will accept and publish articles that tell a good story, highlight benefits for our students or otherwise serve the greater woodworking community. The articles should be factual, well written and accompanied by good images.

The Board of Directors and the Executive Director of the Port Townsend School of Woodworking reserve the right not to accept or publish articles they consider to be advertising, poorly written or that conflict with the School's Mission or Course Schedule.

How to Structure the Article

  • The article should be in the body of the email (not as an attachment) or as a Google Document.
  • Have good simple self explantory title.
  • Articles submitted as email attachments will not be considered.
  • Use a simple heading and paragraph style. Keep your paragraphs blog friendly - each paragraph should be no more than 3 sentences.
  • Make it simple for us to cut and paste your text into the School's website or blog - no fancy fonts or fancy formatting. Keep it really simple.
  • Ensure that the contact information is correct and on seperate lines.
  • Validate all URLs and email addresses.
  • Send good images as attachments or as links to the image at an image hosting site like Picasa.  The link should be an image file (.JPG) or to  a location where the image file can be easily downloaded. Images should be full size. Do not resize to 640 x 640
