Tahoma Mirror Frame
One Day Workshop with Darrell Peart
Tahoma Frame
Tahoma Frame Detail

Wood Projects Series Level: Level II

Introduction

A Greene and Greene style mirror frame can complement the interior of Seattle's best Arts and Craft style bungalows or just look great anywhere.

In this class from Darrell Peart you'll get to make this frame under Darrell's expert guidance. For the first run- through of this new class, enrollment will be limited to eight students. Be sure to bring a camera to record the process.

A tricky looking detail – that in reality is not that tricky, is indeed a coveted item to have in your woodworking bag of tricks. The sinuous “S” shaped joint used in the Tahoma frame is one such “trick”– if you have the CNC jigs that make it so.

Class Description

  • In this one-day class, students will make a Tahoma frame to their custom dimensions. Dimensions are limited to the jigs which will produce an overall frame in width and height from 12” to 48”.
  • Each student will leave the class armed with the drawings for all the jigs and templates. The essential CNC templates will be provided as part of the materials fee.
  • Greene & Greene ebony pegs will be covered as a part of the class and a discussion on an appropriate G&G finish for the frame will be covered as well.

Tools:

  • Four 2 1/2" pinch dogs from Lee Valley Tools
  • 3/16” square hole punch from Lee Valley Tools with appropriate drill bit
