Woodworking for Kids - Spring 2013
After School Classes with John Edwards

The Jefferson County YMCA, in partnership with the Northwest Maritime Center and the Port Townsend School of Woodworking, is offering a youth woodworking program for students ages of 10 through 14.

These after school classes will be offered from 3:45 to 5:45 on Tuesdays. The 6 week session begins April 9th and runs through May 16th. The classes use hand tools and teach basic skills starting with simple projects and getting more challenging as the course progresses.

They are taught by lifelong woodworker and skateboard maker, John Edwards. Edwards is also a contractor who has been teaching youth woodworking in Port Townsend since 2008.

The fee is $80 for the 6 week program and includes materials. Class is limited to 6 students. If the first class fills, a second session may be added.

The classes will be held in the Boat Shop at the NW Maritime Center.

Preregistration is required. Call the YMCA for more information or to register 385-5811.

This is a great opportunity to learn basic skills in preparation for our Build Your Own Skateboard Camp this Summer!

Financial Assistance Available from the YMCA for all programs.
